Delhi : In a shocking incident which might tear apart the moral fabric of urban India, a middle aged man was found reading a women’s magazine called ‘Cosmo’. Delhi police said that they found the man in a surprise raid conducted late last night at a posh suburban location. The police refused to tell Utopia the source of the tipoff, but many believe that this was a case of insider betrayal.

Before being whisked away for interrogation, Dinesh (name changed) confessed that he has been reading women’s magazines for over 2 years. “I first discovered them when my wife started subscribing. And before I knew it, I was waiting for each issue to arrive”, said a repentant Dinesh. Savitri, his wife claimed that her husband was quite macho & loved buying Car & Bike magazines. “But he insisted that he gets three days alone with each issue of Cosmo, I assumed he was looking at the ads”,she said.

An undercover survey by Utopia revealed that men in the neighbourhood had a disturbingly high awareness of women’s magazines. Renowned sociologist Dr Kesavan said that he expects more women’s magazine readers to come out of the closet. “Indian society is going through a transitional phase, in a way the modern man is torn between his sensitive and his macho side”, he warned.

At least 5 middle aged men on conditions of anonymity confessed to Utopia that they regularly read these magazines. “I never realised the top ten things that were supposed to me in my mind while in bed, till I read Cosmo. What really scared me that only 2 of them were actually things that were in my mind. So in a way Cosmo made me more complete”, said Anirudh (fictional name).

Utopia has learnt that several leading men’s magazines are planning to cut down on WWE coverage to include real articles like ‘Top five flower arrangements’, ’What not to wear’ by Susannah & Trinny, ’Lavender shirts for winter’ and ’Oprah Winfrey’, in a desperate scramble to retain male readership.

I protest! Indian culture does not approve of the concepts promoted in such magazines…. concepts such as women enjoying the act of love and tutorials on how to manage multiple orgasms in between your daily chores.

I call upon the moral police to unleash their wrath on such magazine. Shame on these so called MEN who were caught. They are anti-Indian.
